IDE performance of kernel 2.6.8 slower than 2.4.26

After upgrade from kernel 2.4.26 to kernel 2.6.8 the performance of IDE harddisks dropped down -30% on some of my boxes with a specific chipset.

This is a known problem, see http://kerneltrap.org/node/2251

The affected chipset is

Does somebody know, if this problem is resolved, in which kernel version, or in which of the kernel mailing lists I can get more information about the state of the problem?

TIA
