modpost error

Hi,

When I try to compile a driver on Linux 2.6.5, I get
the following error:

/bin/sh: line 1: /usr/src/linux/scripts/mod/modpost:
No such file or directory

Can someone tell me what is this modpost?  How can I
enable it in the kernel, or disable it in my driver,
so my driver will compile?  Any links to webpage would
be great.
