Boot procedure docs

Hi.

I'm trying to understand how a kernel boots on a x86 system, not regarding any
loaders that have done their job before.
Till now, I've checked initrd.txt, linuxboot-current.ps, tlki, lxr sites,
init/*.c and groups.google.com - there are still some questions:

1) Is Almesberger's Documentation (initrd.txt), which is dated from 2000 in a
RedHat distro, up to date with kernel version 2.4.19 ?
2) Does someone know about a pretty-looking piece of docs lying around,
describing especially the mount procedures in do_mounts.c, together with
backgrounds and principles ?

Any pointers would be welcome ....

Thx
Michael
