linux 2.5 booting failure

hi,

i wanted to give a try to the 2.5 kernel
but it simply doesnot boot

after selecting the kernel in boot manager
there is a message 'uncopressing image' (since I made bzImage)
after which comes the 'booting' message and that's all

i used to use 2.5 kernel a few moths ago but since it lacked a few
modules i use i switched back to 2.4
and now i dont know what could have possibly gone wrong

i mean i'm pretty sure it's me and/or my configuration
and there sure has been many changes (like newer libraries) since i last
compiled 2.5 kernel
but since i have not seen such a situation before (well, the kernel used
to be much more talkative) i dont know what to start with

any help would be appreciated
