Networking Problem!
Hello Friends,
I am having a problem , which is kinda userland one, but needs help from the
kernel gurus! I have a machine in which I set the ethrnet card into promiscuous
mode! After setting the card into the promiscuous mode, I need to check how many
TCP packets are read by the kernel from the interface till the time I don't
reset the interface into non-promiscuous mode! Is there any system call, or
parameter in the /proc filesystem or any other way in which I can ask the
kernel to give me just the count of tcp packets! And I just need the count sir!
I will also tell you the reason why I want to do this : The machine is being
stress tested on a 100Mbps network and we want to see how much amount of traffic
can the machine sniff and dump on the disk wthout any losses and if there are
some losses then what is that percentage!
Thanks and Regards
Neeraj
PS: If this off topic then I am sorry, but could'nt get answers from anywhere
else so tried asking you.
