Calling stat from kernel space

I am trying to call the system call "stat" from the
kernel module. But it is giving me some erronous
values as output.

The parameter for stat are supplied by the user
process and the kernel module only makes the call for
the user process.

The call returns ZERO but the struct stat is not
getting the required values.
