ethertap and usermodelinux
I am trying to make modifications to tcp kernel code in user mode linux
To test that, I needed to write and run a client server application on the
same system and therefore needed to enable networking options with user mode
linux(from what I understand, loopback interface will not invoke tcp code -
is this correct).
For enabling networking options - user mode linux uses ethertap on the host
machine. I am running linux 2.4.0 but could not find a way to enable
ethertap on it(did not find it in xconfig)
If anyone can
a) suggest a way to make tcp kernel modifications on uml and test them
b) share experiences with making uml networking work
c) make ethertap interface work on a host machine
It will be very useful
Thanks
