this thread sounds like a debate between hackers and lemmings.

what's the point?  hackers update when they see fit from the changelogs.

lemmings update when software gets stamped with a bigger number.

we each understand each other's position.  let's not try to gain converts.
you're more likely to convince someone that vi is better than emacs or that
redhat 6.2 is more stable than redhat 7.0.
