We are talking on maintainig the _latest_ kernel of a series of
distributions, i.e. the last kernel from RH 5.x, RH 6.x, RH 7.x. It makes
little sense to run anything RH 6.x before 6.2 today, and then you should
be running the latest kernel from updates, not the one on the distribution
CDs.
