newbie : Compiling kernel 2.2.10

Hi !!
     I am a newbie in kernel compiling. I have a
redhat6.0  on my i386 system kernel 2.2.5 and i want
to install kernel 2.2.10 for running bproc. But when
doing make xconfig it shows many of the options
disabled under General Setup. So I am not able to
configure the BeoWulf Options. Is there a
compatibility problem with redhat 6.0 and kernal
2.2.10 where can I get a distribution with kernel
2.2.10
