For the typical desktop, my educated guess is that 2.4 is going to quickly
move in.  People like gadgets.  Gadgets aren't supported in old kernels.
Therefore, people get new kernels to play with their gadgets.

For the typical administrator, he's ever being pressed to add disk space,
increase RAM, make the system faster.  Old kernels don't support bigger and
faster very well.

My educated guess comes from surveys given to client after client, year after
year, and from LUG meetings, web commentary, and statistical analysis
projects.
