[fc] charter

If we're going to get anywhere, we need a charter or statement of
purpose that defines why we created the site, what it should contain and
what it's goals are. From this, we can create a site map and start
filling in the content. From perusing what's already been posted to
this list, I've come up with the text below.

Can we first agree on the charter and then go on as stated above? I
think it will be more organized that way. Let's get a feel for whether
this, something already posted, or something totally different would
best represent our goals for the site.

[begin]

This web site was founded to act as a repository of objective material
to counter misrepresentations and partial truths about the linux(tm)
operating system. We intend to provide the following services:

	- Identify such misrepresentations in press accounts and corporate
propaganda and correct them by supplying factual references
	- Provide a verifyable list of capabilities of the linux(tm) operating
system which can be used as a reference by journalists and prospective
users
	- Provide case studies and testimonials from people using
linux(tm)-based systems in business environments

linux(tm) is a trademark of Linux Torvalds.
