The IT people in most part DON'T know what Linux is about. Not to mention
their managers. I can honestly say from my position at IBM that nobody
here knows what Linux is about except a very small group of people. Even
the people releasing press announcements have a very cloudy idea of what
is really going on and who is right. No one at IBM uses Linux because no
one knows if it's useful or not. When it comes down to it, it's easier to
just beleive MS and use NT or Win9x. Things are changing, but there are a
lot of questions that a company can have from both the IT and management
level. Meet both needs. For managers you can provide accurate, general
information (like MS), and for the technical people, provide access to the
real information.
