[fc] RE: Proposal

The Microsoft TCO study is at
http://www.microsoft.com/NTServer/nts/exec/Compares/LowerTCO.asp. From a
quick glance, it looks like Microsoft costs 37% less but accomplishes 40-50%
less. Smaller databases, fewer transactional applications, fewer web
applications, fewer concurrent sessions, and fewer hits per day. Instead of
calculating cost of ownership, they should have calculated cost per
transaction. Things might have been a wee bit different.

Regarding FUD:

If they post FUD, we should post FACT and pointers to evidence. When the
linux community labels something as FUD, it's seen as a knee-jerk reaction
or an emotional response. Let's skip that and go straight to the facts. If
you would like to reference the original FUD, do it in the same way
Microsoft did: Myth vs. Reality. Don't call it FUD.

I also would like to see an area on the site for things like the security
article passed around earlier. Very informative.
