Windows Refund Day February 15, 1999
(I have serious doubts about the feasibility but it sounds fun)
Here's an event that ought to be of interest to EULUG-organizers.
The saga of a disgruntled Australian computer buyer inspired Matt Jensen,
Webmaster of "TheNoodle.com", to organize a "Windows Refund Day." On
February 15, 1999, computer buyers who were forced to pay for copies of
Windows when they intended to run UNIX (or UNIX workalikes), NetWare, OS/2,
or other alternative operating systems will request refunds en masse. These
refunds are explicitly promised by Microsoft's End User License Agreement,
which is displayed whenever a user starts a new machine that's bundled with
Windows.
