Re: what do the LUGs do?
Hi Rik,
WYLUG (WEST YORKSHIRE, UK) has held monthly meetings for a year now.
We usually have one or two speakers and a general chat session, followed
by beer in 'local' pub. We get roughly 30-40 people along each month -
not all university by a long way.
The idea of an install fest was raised but generally seemed to get little
support and seemed a real headache to organise.
Our wylug-help email list is pretty useful for question and answer stuff.
One of our members has tried to jump start a WYLUG open source project,
but not sure it is taken off.
I suspect we ought to be doing some 'outreach' work and trying to raise
the Linux profile among local businesses and the general public in our
area.
all the best
Jim
