SSLUG's activities
Hi, I'm Hanne.
Im am a commitee member of SSLUG, Skaane Sjaelland Linux User Group.
(Skaane is a part of Sweeden, Sjaelland is a part of Denmark).
Our main purpose is to help each other with Linux, to tell people about
Linux and to share our Linux experience with other Linux people.
SSLUG has a lot of activities. We are a rather big LUG, in a few days we
will reach 2000 members... (Well, maybe in a week. No need to
exaggerate :-) ).
We have - ehmm, about 15 mailing lists, I think.
The most important ones are sslug-teknik (as eulug-help), sslug-misc and
sslug-announce.
The other lists are about arranging meetings, making Linux CD-ROMs,
c-programming, java-programming, perl-programming, documentation etc.
The lists are in our local languages, that is, Swedish and Danish. The
major lists have a lot of mail. Sslug-teknik have, say, 30-50 mails a
day, and sslug-misc about 10-15 a day. The other lists have a few mails
now and then.
SSLUG have 4 big meetings a year. One with election for the commitee. We
usually have install party and speeches and stuff. The 23. at our
meeting in Malmo (Sweeden), Eric S. Raymond will come and talk to us.
We also have a meeting in Denmark once a month, which is more
unofficial. We talk, meet people that we otherwise only know from the
mailing lists, discuss SSLUG and Linux issues, and maybe someone bring a
computer to get help installing Linux.
A lot of people in SSLUG are working actively on different projects. We
have kernel hackers among us *cult*, and people writing books in Danish
and Sweedish, and people working on programming projects. We have some
very good web administrators, who maintain our web site
http://www.sslug.dk . Our web site is full of good Linux stuff - in
Danish and Sweedish. And we have the commitee, which takes care of
running SSLUG. And we have some very qualified people administrating our
server, keeping our lists running smooth etc.
Many members, however, are not that active. We don't have 2000 members
showing up at these meetings *G*. That is good, because there would not
be room for all. Many people just use the mailing lists.
Last year we had a Linux Conference, and we plan to have one this year
also.
I probably forgot half of what we do. Feel free to ask questions.
