Speaking of vegetables, what about the World Tree, Yggdrasil? I know the
*name* is popular (there's even a Yggdrasil Linux dist), but I don't think
the image of a big tree is taken.

Ugh. One negative vote for the tribble. (I always hated those things.)

Re the golden apple, a moment of thought should be given to those that
might object to religious references in a global project such as Alliance.
FYI, I don't object on those grounds, it's just food for thought. :)

As for my lurker vote, I'd lean toward an animal mascot. Perhaps a dolphin
or other whale?
...then again, the image of the words ``All OS'' in bold above a glowing
spiral galaxy just popped into my head, and that looks good too...
